The matchup that ive been waiting for all week is going to happen early next week in Shanghai. Rafael Nadal and Nikolay Davydenko both drew in the Gold group ( along with James Blake and Tommy Robredo ) so they will face one another in the first couple of days. I was hoping for this matchup because I think that Davy can take Nadal in the current form both players are in, and he might be a good price in the process. In my opinion this tourny will mean more to Davy as he will be looking for respect moreso than Nadal. and tus might give himself a little more to play for.

GOLD Group - Nadal, Davydenko, Blake, Robredo
RED Group - Federer, Ljubicic, Roddick, Nalbandian

Looking forward to the tourni. Excuse my ignorance, but is it a round robin format?

Yes Hal. Top two from each group advance to the semis and so on. Federer drawn for some first up revenge against Nalbandian in the opening match.

Agreed syd, Davy can take out Nadal in current form- if ever a time, it's now. Intersting to see price there.

Hopefully we will both be right. Davy has everything stacked in his favour right now and I agree that it could be a now or never time for him against Rafa.

If I wanted to stir up the betting and get some money on Rafa then I would open up Davy a slight fave. I would like to put him up anywhere between -115 and -150. It could be a case of sharps versus squares where you have the sharps on Davy and the squares on Rafa thinking its a luxury betting on Rafa as a dog.

I am hoping that im wrong though and that we get the plus money about Davy

thkf for sharing bro. I thought you were done with tennis until Jan.....a degenerate like the rest of us...:puppy: .

So tough to call these matches. I'm with ya here tho pal, i'm taking Ivan also. He's immaculate on this surface. His loss to Murray at Madrid was not disturbing--Andrew handles big serves with ease, incredible for his age. Ivan has beaten Andy last two meetings. No idea why he's the dog here. Would like to play the OVER in this match, no friggen tho line, oh well. gl to us and again thk for sharing.

some nice people here at the Rx ragin who like tennis.

No... Nadal has done nothing this 2nd half season... Blake was on fire in October.. Blake leads the h2h 2-0..... But this is a big setting and Nadal has much better composure. Blake with spotlight on makes me nervous...I think odds are about right.

Tommy Robredo... 4.25... While there is no denying the Russian was in top form, I cant buy he holds onto it for 3.5 weeks. Robredo aint to shabby of a player.

There has been money for Nadal so far tonight. No interest in the Davy match thus far, but he is priced up to his best. Fedman aside, ( and Nadal on clay ) I find it hard to take near -400 about one top ten player against another as I dont think that there should be that much between them.

Im in wait and see mode ( also known as fence sitting mode ) about Rafa. His post Wimbledon form is ordinary and winning the tournament, or performing well for that matter wont do a lot for him aside from boosting his bank balance. He might be happy to just be there considering injury ruled him out of last years tourny. On a personal note I would like him to win as it will enable me to get a better price about Davy when the two of them line up.

Good luck. Im looking forward to the offseason.

Betting4Fun, I dont know where you play at, but you are taking a bad price about Blake if you take $2.20. He is $2.39 at Pinny and even better at CRIS at $2.40. Rafa's price is inching up so you should be able to do a lot better than $2.20.

I have no real thoughts on this tourny ( aside from wanting to bet Davydenko to beat Nadal when they play ) because im worried about how much it means to some of the players. In saying that, I think Blake will be trying ( he generally does ) and wanting to finish the year on a high note, but I cant say the same about Rafa.

I definitely wont be steering you away from betting on Blake thats for sure.

Any thoughts on Roddick vs. Federer or Ljubicic vs. Nalbandian guys?
